 … Nigerian government recovers 20 cars stolen in Canada

 

The Nigeria government recovered 20 vehicles stolen in Canada and shipped to Nigeria and got a court order approving their forfeiture to the government.

These cars were stolen from Canada between March and June of 2022 according to court papers.

 Joint Efforts Recovery

The recovery was a result of cooperation between the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The RCMP provided intelligence to the EFCC that led to the identification of the stolen vehicles.

 What happens to the recovered vehicles?

Since the cars were stolen, the rightful owners might have likely been compensated by their insurance companies. Therefore, the recovered vehicles become the property of the insurance companies.

The court has also empowered the Canadian Deputy High Commission in Nigeria or any other officer so designated by the office, to dispose off the forfeited properties either by sale or return to the victims, subject to remittance of the statutory two percent from the proceeds to the EFCC Recovery Account.

Black SUV 400, White 4MATIC Mercedes-Benz, SUV MDX SH-AWD Acura, Grey SUV RS 350L Lexus, Deep Blue SUV RX 350 Lexus (multiple recovered), White Toyota 4Runner, White Lexus RX 350, Black Honda Ridgeline, White Lexus RX 350 SPORT, Grey Lexus RX 350.

Others are: Grey Toyota 4Runner, White Lexus RX 350 FS Sport, White Toyota Highlander XLE AWD, Black Toyota Highlander (multiple recovered), Black Mercedes-Benz G550, Red Lexus Rx 350 and a White Mercedes-Benz GLA 250.
