Odogbolu Local Government wishes to clarify just for the records, complaint received from the Balogun of Odogbolu, Chief S.A Ali (aka Sele) and The Oloritun Oke Orita of Odogbolu, Chief Tola Osinaike also from Hon. Seun Aderibigbe as regards refuse dumped at Quarters in Odogbolu metropolis on Thursday, 12th October, 2023 concerning non-evacuation of refuse dumped at various spots within Odogbolu town.
On the said date, 12th October, 2023, The Executive Chairman of the local government, Hon. Ladejobi Shuaib put a call across to the Director of Operation Ogun State Waste Management Agency (OGWAMA), Mr. Sofola whose agency is saddled with the responsibility to waste collection and management in Ogun State, who assured the chairman that they will reach out to the contractor handling waste in Odogbolu Local government.
Capt Sunny Adegbuyi later called and messaged the Executive Chairman of the local government, Hon. Ladejobi Shuaib to introduce himself as the Chairman of Arbys Consulting Ltd the waste management operator saddled with the responsibility of carting away refuses within Odogbolu local government.
Capt. Sunny Adegbuyi stated that people are not paying, Government dumping sites are full and slippery due to the rain as some of the reasons for the delayed clearing of the refuse for several weeks and they promised clearing up of the refuse this week as soon as dumping sites are done by OGWAMA.
The Executive Chairman of the local government, Hon. Ladejobi Shuaib then personally visited for on the spot assessment and also instructed the Director of Water Supply and Environmental Health Services of the local government to liaise with the said contractor for immediate evacuation of the refuse at various refuse dump spots within Odogbolu Town, most especially the Odenla spot and Ita Odo spot.
The refuse from various spots within Odogbolu metropolis has since been carted away beginning from today, Wednesday, 18th October, 2023 and the exercise still continues.
However, the people of Odogbolu local government at large and Odogbolu town in particular are advised to stop indiscriminate dumping of refuse as it is illegal and punishable under the law.
The LGA appreciates the patience and understanding of residents during this time. The LGA is committed to providing a clean and healthy environment for all residents.
