as it showered them with lots of gift items during the May 27th
Children’s Day Celebrations. The event which took place at the Blue Roof
of the Lagos state Television complex witnessed huge turnout as families from
different parts of the states including Ogun environs trooped out in large numbers
to celebrate with their children. The children who were dressed in different
attires were full of excitement as many were seen running around to catch their
fun.
Speaking with
Daily Independent on the significance of the day, a parent, Mrs. Ibrahim
Hajara said she was quite elated to celebrate the day with the children.
According to Hajara, her busy schedule at work in the last three years had
prevented her in relating with the children hence the need to utilise this
opportunity.
She said” I
have been found wanting especially in spending quality time with the children.
At least, today has made me appreciate the need to understand them better. I am
highly excited to be here with them. We have really had fun today and they are
happy that both of us are here with them.
Another
parent who could not contain his joy while savouring all the good moments with
the kids, Mr. Adebayo Abimbola explained that children are the future leaders
and as such requires adequate attention and necessary grooming. Abimbola stated
that occasions like this presents itself as a good time to bond with them
stressing that values and other ingredients of development had been lacking in
them because parents do not spend enough time with their kids.
Some of the
children however commended the management of Peak milk for its kind support in
making the gathering a memorable one.
One of them,
Michael Daniel who is dreaming to become a medical doctor in the nearest future
pointed out that the dairy company has done well enough to celebrate them
especially with the donation of books and presentation of milk products to
everyone who turned out to witness the event. Many of the kids who thronged the
Peak milk Stand applauded the company on their effort to provide rich nutrients
to the children.
No fewer than
30 educational institutions were in attendance at the children’s day event. The
highlight of the events saw students from various schools engaged in different
cultural and sporting activities some of which include choreography, dancing
competition, and callisthenics display. At the gathering, families were seen
enjoying every bit of the fun with some of them involved in sporting activities
