Mr. Lampe Omoyele has been appointed as Managing Director of Nielsen West Africa, replacing Mr Harshvardhan Sarda who will be taking on a new role in Nielsen. They study consumers in more than 100 countries to give a complete view of trends and habits worldwide, the company is an acclaimed provider of “unique and in-depth view into diverse behaviors and attitudes that shape the diversity of the African consumer.”
According to a statement released by the company, Lampe is described as an “accomplished leader from Nigeria with more than 25 years’ experience gained in top consumer goods and telecommunications companies across West and East Africa.” He will be based in Lagos, leading Nielsen’s West African operations with a population of about 340 million people spread over 5 million square killometre land mass.
Multilingual West Afica speaks English, French, Arabic and about 15 other major languages, comprising 18 countries of Benin, Burkina Faso, the Island of Cape Verde, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, the Island of Saint Helena, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sao Tome and Principe and Togo.
He “will lead the teams in the region to provide your business with strategic knowledge and insights on building brands, optimising retail performance and delivering sustainable growth in the dynamic and emerging West African markets” the statement says further.
Lanpe was Africa marketing director, family nutrition at GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare PLC (GSK). In that role, he was responsible for the development and execution of commercial strategy and projects, with shared P&L accountability across markets in Sub-Saharan Africa.
He was previously marketing director at Nutricima limited, a member of the PZ Cusson Group, and marketing director-Segments at Zain Nigeria, Marketing Director, Cadbury East and Central Africa.
Lampe holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Biochemistry and was conferred with Chartered Marketer status by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) in 2009.
He is a Fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), Vice-president of the Advertisers’ Association of Nigeria (ADVAN) and member of the Advertising Practitioners’ Council of Nigeria (APCON).
Lampe enjoys teaching positioning and new product mapping and described by Orange Academy, Africa’s practical school of integrated brand experience as one of its guru.
