For the third year in a row, brands from the stable of Nigerian Breweries Plc have reinforced their topmost position in marketing excellence. Recently, Star Lager Beer, Star Lite, Gulder Lager Beer, Amstel Malta and Fayrouz shone like a million stars as they picked up a total of seven prestigious awards at the 2014 Advertising Association of Nigeria (ADVAN) Awards for Marketing Excellence event held at the Muson Centre.
Star Lager Beer, Nigeria’s favourite beer, clinched the Gold Award in the ‘Experiential Marketing Category’ with its nationwide music concert, Star Trek as well as 3rd position in the ‘Campaign of the Year Category’ with Shine on Nigeria campaign which was adjudged a monumental success in the history of brand led football campaigns in Nigeria. The company’s new entrant, Star Lite also stood out on the night of excellence as it won Gold award in the New Brand of the Year category and 2nd position in the ‘Innovation of the Year Category.’
Gulder Lager Beer was awarded 2nd position in the ‘Consumer Promotion of the Year Category’ with its Gulder Ultimate Search Consumer Challenge. Fayrouz also picked 2nd position in the ‘Experiential Marketing Category’ with the Fayrouz L’Original Expression Show while Amstel Malta claimed 3rd position in the ‘Digital Marketing of the Year Category’ with its ‘Act the Part’ online contest.
According Mr. Nicolaas Vervelde, Managing Director/CEO, Nigerian Breweries, the awards which is a major improvement over 2013 stands as a veritable testimony to the professionalism in marketing in Nigerian Breweries. According to him, the award would boost the company’s effort in its execution to win drive.
It would be recalled that in 2013, Star Lager Beer won awards in the ‘Digital and Social Media Category’; Maltina received two awards, one each from the ‘Consumer Promotion Category’ and the ‘Innovation Category’ while Heineken and Legend Extra Stout won in the ‘Innovation Category’ and the ‘Consumer Promotion Category’ respectively.
