A New President for Nigeria's Public Relations Regulatory Body

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has a new president. The new president, Dr. Rotimi Oladele the Managing Director of Megavon Nigeria Limited was elected recently at the institute’s conference held in Abuja. A statement issued by chairman of the Lagos chapter of the institute Joseph Okonmah  said Oladele emergence as the president of the institute confirmed his contribution to the public relations subsector and the institute over the years.

Okonmah said: “It is an acknowledgement of his contributions to the cause of the growth of the institute and the upliftment of the public relations practice in the country.” He also expressed gratitude for the judgment and decision of the nation’s public relations practitioners to elect quality practitioners to steer the affairs of the institute, adding that “The best was yet to be seen in the management of the affairs of the institute across the country.”

The new president, who was a former Managing Director of the Nigerian Tribune newspaper group, was elected alongside 17 council members. Muktar Sirajo, a member from the Kaduna chapter of the institute,  was elected deputy president.  The new executive council took over from Alhaji Mohammed A. Abdullahi, a former commissioner of Information in Bauchi state, who has run the affars of the association since his was elected in Bayelsa in 2009.
